By whom were all things created according to Colossians 1:16?
According to Colossians 1:16, all things were created by God the Son, the Lord Jesus. The verse states that by Him were all things created in heaven and earth, visible and invisible, including thrones, dominions, principalities, and powers; everything was created by Him and for Him.
Les explains that the pronoun 'who' points back to the Son in verse 13, whose blood was given for redemption and forgiveness in verse 14. In verse 15, Paul calls Him the image of the invisible God: the invisible Trinity, the Elohim of the Old Testament, was spirit, but out of that Godhead stepped one person who took on flesh and became visible. That God, the Son, the Lord Jesus, is the visible appearance of the invisible God and the firstborn of every creature, meaning He is before anything else ever existed. Then verse 16 says that by Him, by God the Son, all things were created—in heaven, on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, dominions, principalities, or powers. Everything was created by Him and for Him. Les says He is the Creator, and one day every human being will know Him as such; the lost will meet Him at the great white throne and will not argue. Taking this person of the Godhead down to the level of mankind's other gods is blasphemy.
For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
