What was God's first command to Abram when He called him in Ur?

When God first spoke to Abram in Ur of the Chaldees, He gave him one command: leave Ur and your family, and go to a land that I will show you. Abram obeyed by faith. This was the beginning of God's dealing with the man from whom the nation of Israel would come, and Scripture says by faith Abraham went.

Les teaches that Genesis 12 is the point where God first spoke to Abram while he was still down in Ur of the Chaldees, and God made him one command: leave Ur and his family and go to a land God would show him. By faith Abraham went. Les ties this to God's beginning dealings with the man out of whom the nation of Israel would come, and to Paul's three chapters, Romans 9-11, where Israel's covenants must be connected to the Old Testament account. God fulfilled the covenants on behalf of Israel; believers experience the salvation of God that runs over from them, but the covenants themselves are not something we have to do.
