What was God's first command to Abram and where was Abram when he received it?

God's first command to Abram was to leave Ur and his family and go to a land that God would show him. Abram received this command while he was still in Ur of the Chaldees, before he by faith departed.

Les explains that Genesis 12 briefly records the Abrahamic covenant. God first spoke to Abram while he was still down in Ur of the Chaldees and gave him one command: “Leave Ur and your family, and go to a land that I will show you.” By faith Abraham went. This was the beginning of God's dealing with that man out of whom would come the nation of Israel.
