What discipline does God have planned for Israel when they fall into wickedness?

God's planned discipline for Israel is not total destruction; He will correct them for their wickedness and bring them through the greatest discipline any people have ever faced—the tribulation. Though He sets them aside, His mercy will not depart forever, and He will not destroy the nation or turn His back on them permanently.

Les explains that whenever you see the word "but," look for the flip side. Israel will commit iniquity, but God says His mercy will not depart from him as He took it from Saul. Regardless of how far Israel falls into wickedness, God will discipline them, and they will face the greatest discipline any people have ever had when they go through the tribulation. Yet He is not destroying the nation of Israel, nor has He turned His back on them forever. He has set them aside, and even in early Acts Peter addressed the children and men of Israel, pleading with them to respond to the crucified Messiah, though nationally most rejected it.
