Why are believers more than conquerors?
Believers are more than conquerors not by their own ability or merit, but because Christ Jesus makes them conquerors. It is all of God's grace and unmerited favor, nothing in them merits favor with God. He becomes everything, and they live and move in Him.
Les teaches that Romans 8:37 declares believers are more than conquerors in all these things. He emphasizes this is not of what we have, nor through any ability that I or you have; what makes us conquerors is Christ Jesus. He becomes everything. Les points to Colossians, saying whatsoever you do in word or deed, do it unto Him, for that is where we live and move. He stresses there is nothing in us that can merit any favor with God—it is all of His grace. Grace could never have happened if it wouldn't have been for mercy. Since God poured out His mercy on Christ there on the cross, we no longer have to cry for mercy; now He gives grace, unmerited favor we don't deserve.
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
