Can believers be attacked by the world and Satan?
Yes. Believers are not exempt from bad things; the things of this world can attack the believer, and Satan can transform himself into an angel of light and confuse the issues. However, God remains in total control and sovereign, and His promises hold for those who rest on them.
Les teaches that the promise “Who can be against you? I’m for you” must not be interpreted to mean nothing bad can happen to a believer. He warns that the things of this world can attack the believer, and Satan can transform himself into an angel of light and confuse the issues. Yet believers have promises: God is still in total control, He is sovereign. The next verses deal with assurance and separation, with tribulation as the immediate thought.
And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
