Are believers still under Satan's control?
No. Believers have been set free and are no longer under the shackles of Satan. They have been brought out of Egypt, set apart for God, as Israel was. Although Satan still tempts and appeals to the flesh, urging a return to the old life, he no longer owns or controls them.
Les explains that just as Israel was brought out of Egypt and set apart for God, believers have been set free and are no longer under the shackles of Satan. Yet when things get rough, the tempter comes and suggests they were better off before, appealing to the flesh. Les warns, "Don't you believe it?" That is Satan's working. The context also connects this to reconciliation: God reconciled us to Himself by Jesus the Christ, and He gave us a ministry of reconciliation, not a return to bondage.
