Why didn't God spare His Son from the cross?

God did not spare His Son because the cross was no accident and no loss of control; it was predetermined before anything was created that Christ would go to that cross. He had foreordained that Christ had to die for the sins of mankind, and everything rests on it.

Les explains that it was not that God lost control at all. This was all predetermined before anything was ever created, that Christ would go to that cross, and so everything rests on it. God could have spared His Son, He could have just put an end to all of it, but He didn't, because He had foreordained that He had to die for the sins of mankind, and He did die. Les stresses that this is the Gospel — that Christ died, was buried, and rose again — and he laments that people are no longer hearing it, because many presentations of how to be saved say nothing about the cross, nothing about His death, and nothing about His resurrection, thereby bypassing the Gospel.
