Why did Les hear about redemption of the soul but not the body while growing up?
The teaching he heard emphasized only the soul's salvation or redemption, not the body's. Scripture speaks of waiting for the redemption of the body, but the body remains under the curse, subject to sickness, wounds, and death until the Lord returns.
Les explains that during his growing-up years, all he heard was the salvation or redemption of the soul, and he never heard much about the body. He points out that God has never used the human being as just a soul and spirit; it has to be the complete entity of body, soul, and spirit. The body has not yet experienced redemption and is still under the curse, so people get sick, get wounded, and die unless the Lord comes. Believers therefore wait for the adoption, namely the redemption of the body.
