Why is the resurrection body still without the soul and spirit?

The resurrection body is still without the soul and spirit because they were separated from the body at physical death. The believer’s soul and spirit are already in glory, present with the Lord, while the body is raised in resurrection power.

Les explains that those in Christ have been baptized into the body by the Holy Spirit, not with water. If they are dead, they will be raised in resurrection power, but that raised body is still void of the soul and spirit because they were separated at physical death. The soul and spirit of the believer are already in glory. Les points to 2 Corinthians 5, where Paul writes that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord, and to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. The believer’s soul and spirit go immediately into paradise in heaven, into the presence of the Lord, but only in soul and spirit.
