What happens when I believe what God has said?
When you believe what God has said, He becomes duty bound to fulfill His Word, or the Book would be a lie. Believing with the heart—not mere head knowledge—results in God imputing His righteousness, clothing you with the righteousness of Christ.
Les explains that when we say, 'God, You've said it, I believe it with all my heart,' God becomes duty bound to fulfill His Word; otherwise this Book is a lie. He stresses that this must be heart belief, not just head knowledge, asking whether we believe with our innermost being that Christ died for the world and for us. With the heart man believes unto righteousness, and as soon as we believe the Gospel, God imputes His righteousness. Les compares this to Genesis, where God clothed Adam and Eve with coats of skins, and to Isaiah chapter 61, 'garments of righteousness,' and Romans chapter 3, where Paul says the same happens to all who believe. So God can actually clothe the believer with the righteousness of Christ.
