What will the Holy Spirit do for believers who are in Adam's fallen position?
The Holy Spirit, who raised Jesus from the dead, dwells in believers and will quicken or make alive their mortal bodies. By that same resurrection power, He will raise them from the fallen position Adam caused, granting eternal life because of righteousness.
Les explains that Paul is speaking of the Trinity: God the Father used the power of the Holy Spirit to raise the Son, and believers also become partakers of that. Since the Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in them, the same power that raised Christ will raise them from the fallen position Adam made them fall into. Verse 11 says He will quicken or make alive their mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwells in them. The Spirit is life, referring to eternal life because of righteousness. Les also notes that Ephesians chapter 2 has almost the same identical language.
But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
