Where does most of Christendom get its basic doctrine according to Les?
Most of Christendom gets its basic doctrine, and everything else, from within the Apostle Paul's writings. Yet many within Christendom will not give Paul the credit for this, and some even question whether his writings belong in the Bible. Realizing what this apostle says is foundational to salvation and Christian experience.
Les emphasizes Paul, saying he makes no apology for it because Paul claims to be the Apostle of the Gentiles. It is within Paul's writings, Les says, that most of Christendom gets its basic doctrine and everything else, yet they never seem to give him the credit. He mentions people who say their Sunday school teacher or preacher detests Paul's writings and cannot see why they are in the Bible. One lady in his Oklahoma class said she heard someone ask how anyone can believe what Paul writes and that he should not be in the Bible. Les says that is stronger than most, but it reflects a subconscious feeling with many people, even though it is foundational to salvation and Christian experience to realize what this Apostle is saying. He also calls Christ's indwelling a Pauline doctrine, especially for the Gentile believer.
