How does the Holy Spirit's warm embrace affect a believer's desires?
The indwelling Holy Spirit's warm, loving embrace gives believers the desire first and foremost to live pleasing in God's sight, and it takes away the desire to be rebellious, obnoxious, and wicked. This transformation is His work, not the believer's own.
Les explains that the Holy Spirit becomes the believer's Law and guideline for Christian living, not a set of rules and regulations but His influence and power. Unlike the Law, which sat in cold stone, was severe, condemned, and could not help, the indwelling Holy Spirit is warm and loving, embraces and cuddles believers, and thereby gives them the desire first and foremost to live pleasing in God's sight. He takes away the desire to be a rebel, obnoxious, and wicked. This is the work of the indwelling Holy Spirit, not the believer.
