Les Feldick Bible Study

What does being risen with Christ do to a believer's desires?

Being risen with Christ produces a change in a believer’s appetites and desires. Their priorities shift from earthly things to things above and eternal, so they seek those things which are above, where Christ sits at God’s right hand, and set their affection on things above rather than on things on the earth.

Les explains that being risen with Christ means the believer has died with Him, been buried with Him, and has now been risen with Him, and the result is a change in appetites and desires. This causes the believer to seek things above, which are eternal, and to set affection on things above, not on things on the earth. Les stresses priorities: heaven is the believer’s first interest, though God’s blessings can be enjoyed. Earthly things perish; anticipation is exciting, but for eternal things the realization will be greater.

Colossians 3:1

If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
