When you believe the Gospel, does Jesus Christ come into your life and become your personal Savior?

Yes. When a person believes the Gospel—that Christ died, was buried, and rose again—Jesus Christ comes into their life. He becomes their personal Savior. This is absolutely true. The Gospel itself is Christ's death, burial, and resurrection, not merely using clichés by themselves.

Les explains that hell-fire-and-brimstone preaching is not the Gospel, and telling people to come forward and take Jesus into their life is not the Gospel by itself. The Gospel is that Christ died for you, was buried, and rose from the dead. Then when you believe the Gospel, you are taking Jesus Christ into your life, and He becomes your personal Savior. The little clichés by themselves are not the Gospel. Les also connects this to Romans 8, where the Law of the Spirit of Life counteracts the Law of sin and death, and the Holy Spirit is mentioned 19 times in that chapter after being mentioned only once in the first seven chapters, not in a really doctrinal sense.
