What happens at the moment you believe the gospel?
The moment a person believes the gospel, the Holy Spirit comes in and seals them with the Holy Spirit of promise. He becomes God's brand upon them and the very power of God within them. This places the believer under grace rather than law, though grace is never licensed.
Les explains the order: every child of God first was a sinner, a son of Adam, condemned already. When we realize we're a sinner, we hear the gospel—Paul's gospel that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. The Holy Spirit opens our understanding, and we believe. The moment we believe, the Holy Spirit comes in, seals us with the Holy Spirit of promise, becomes God's brand upon us and the very power of God within us. Consequently, we are not under law but under grace, never licensed, but led and guided by the indwelling Holy Spirit.
