Les Feldick Bible Study

What is justifying faith like according to Les?

Justifying faith is invisible and not something a person works at. It rests on Christ's death, burial, and resurrection as God's accomplished act, in which the one justified contributed nothing of his own energy or flesh. Because it is God's work, it brings the security of no condemnation rather than perpetual insecurity.

Les explains that justifying faith is invisible and is not something you work at. He contrasts it with the claim that Christians must work, strive, and be careful or lose it. If salvation depended on human effort, no one could know which sin caused the loss, resulting in a life of perpetual insecurity. Instead, justification rests on Christ's death, burial, and resurrection as an act of God, in which we had nothing of our own energy and could do nothing in the flesh. It was all God's work, so there is therefore now no condemnation.
