Why are believers secure according to Les?
Believers are secure not because of anything they do or deserve, but because they have placed their faith in the blood of Christ. That blood seals out judgment and can never touch them, just as the pitch sealed the ark. They also place faith in His resurrection.
Les teaches that the believer's security rests entirely on faith in the blood of Christ and His resurrection, not on personal works or merit. He illustrates this with Noah's ark: God instructed Noah to seal the ark with pitch, and the same Hebrew word for pitch is also the word for atonement. That pitch had a sealing, atoning effect, just as the blood of Christ seals out judgment so it can never touch us. Les emphasizes that this pattern runs all the way through Scripture: we are secure because we have placed our faith in Christ's blood and resurrection, not because of anything we do or deserve.
