What happens if a believer walks according to his position in Christ?
When a believer walks according to the position God has given them in Christ, they will not fulfill the desires of the flesh. They will not give in to the demands of Old Adam, because walking in the Spirit enables them to live consistently with their standing in Christ.
Les teaches that the believer's position in Christ is the standing received when we became believers: we were baptized into the body of Christ, and we are now in Christ. He alludes to that same position doctrinally when he says, "Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill or live after the desires of the flesh." The flesh here is Old Adam. So if we walk according to the position God has given us, we will not give in to the demands of Old Adam. Les qualifies the word "position" by comparing it to the presidency of a great corporation or the United States: the position is recognized even though many different people have held it. The same way with our position in Christ—it is a position, and we are to live in accord with it, just as people in important places are expected to live in accordance with their position.
