What are the two possible deaths for old Adam?

Old Adam, the inherited sin nature, must die spiritually. He can be put to death in this life by faith, appropriating the cross and being reckoned dead in Christ, or he will experience the second death at the great white throne, consigned forever to the lake of fire.

Les teaches that the invisible part of a person—the personality, the "I," the ego—is centered in the mind, will, and emotion, and that this comprises the old Adam. Even though old Adam lives in the body of flesh that is going to die, a death must also be appropriated to that old Adam, the spirit side. Paul deals with this most. The old sin nature we are born with must die spiritually, either in this life by appropriating the work of the cross and having Him reckoned as dead in Christ, or old Adam will experience the death knell of the great white throne and be consigned to the lake of fire forever—the second death. Everyone will die a physical death if the Lord does not come, but spiritually, old Adam is either put to death by faith and the gospel on the cross, or he experiences the second death by virtue of the great white throne and eternal doom.
