What choice does Paul present regarding old Adam and the second death?

Paul sets before us a choice: either take care of old Adam, enter God's righteousness and salvation, and enjoy eternal bliss in God's presence, or let old Adam reign supreme, do nothing about it, and pass off the scene into the second death, which is spiritual death and separation from God.

Les explains that the second death is spiritual death, which is total separation from God. At the great white throne, those being judged are sent away from God's presence, never again to have contact or conversation with their Creator. Paul applies the same truth in Romans: a person can take care of old Adam, enter into righteousness and salvation, and have eternal bliss in the presence of God; or they can let old Adam reign supreme, pass off the scene without doing anything about it, and go to the second death. In verse 22, being made free from old Adam and becoming servants to God produces fruit unto holiness in this life and everlasting life in the end. Old Adam produced only condemnation and evil, but salvation changes both the fruit and the destiny.
