What kind of body will we receive after the resurrection?

After the resurrection, believers will receive a heavenly, spiritual body—a whole new body fashioned after Christ's glorious body. It will not be contained by walls, ceilings, or space. Flesh and blood cannot inherit God's kingdom, so corruption must give way to incorruption, and we will bear the image of the heavenly.

Les explains that verse 48 distinguishes the earthy from the heavenly: as we have borne the image of the earthy—sons of Adam, flesh and blood, under the curse—we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. He says this means moving from the natural state to the spiritual state. Verse 50 declares that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, neither does corruption inherit incorruption, so a new body is necessary. That new body is fashioned after Christ's body, especially after the resurrection—our hope of a glorious body not contained by walls, ceilings, or space. Les also suggests we may enjoy the pleasures of eating and similar things, since Christ ate on the shores of Galilee. Paul laid this out to establish basic doctrine, especially for Gentiles.

1 Corinthians 15:49

And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
