When Christ brings the kingdom back to earth, believers will be with Him there and will rule and reign with Him on the earth. They are already citizens of heaven, translated into the kingdom of His dear Son, and will share in that coming earthly reign with Him.
Les explains that believers are not an earthly people but a heavenly people, and their citizenship is already in heaven. Paul writes in Colossians 1 that the Father has prepared us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light, has delivered us from the power of darkness, and has translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son. That kingdom is presently in heaven where Christ is. But one day, when He comes and brings the kingdom back to earth, believers will be with Him there and will be ruling and reigning with Him on the earth. Even now we are still tied to the old earth and work by the sweat of the brow, but our citizenship remains in heaven.
