If you truly love someone, can you still sin against them?
No. True love, defined as seeking the other person's highest good, cannot sin against them. When love operates, one cannot break the law, for love fulfills the law. If you truly love someone, you will not speak evil of them, steal from them, or enter an immoral relationship with them.
Les explains that love is defined as seeking the other person's highest good. Under grace, believers are not free to do as they please; the Ten Commandments remain the perfect law of a holy God. Paul references them in Romans 13:8-9, teaching that he who loves another has fulfilled the law. Les stresses that when love is operating, you cannot break the law. If you truly love someone, you will not talk about them behind their back, steal what is theirs, or enter an immoral relationship. True love is not instant gratification but seeks the other's highest good.
Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
