Do believers still sin?
Yes, believers still sin. The old Adam nature seizes opportunities when the spirit part withdraws from the battle line, leading to acts of the body. Yet by exercising the spirit through the Word, prayer, and Christian fellowship, believers can gain much control over bodily activity. Paul himself experienced this dilemma in Romans 7.
Les teaches that believers naturally sin and cannot get away from it. He explains that we all fail and fall, and when the spirit part of us withdraws from the battle line, old Adam immediately jumps at the opportunity and begins to control the acts of the body. The solution is to keep that spirit part literally exercised by the Word, by prayer, and by Christian fellowship, so we can pretty much control the activity of the body. Even though the two natures are contrary, we cannot do the things we would, but if led of the Spirit, we are not under the Law. Paul went through the same dilemma in Romans 7, knowing he should do something but not doing it, and doing what he should not, which gives comfort that we are not alone.
