Les Feldick Bible Study

According to Les Feldick, what is faith all about?

Faith is about honestly looking at Scripture, recognizing that God has said it, and responding from the heart, “God, I believe it.” It rests on believing that Christ’s death and resurrection accomplished everything a holy God could demand, with nothing added by human merit or works.

Les explains that in Galatians 5 Paul warns against adding circumcision or anything man can do to merit salvation to the gospel of grace. Such addition does not change the text but causes Christ to profit nothing and cancels the work of the cross. Faith, therefore, is faith plus nothing. It believes that when Christ died and rose from the dead, He did everything a holy God could demand of us. All God asks is that we believe it. If we refuse, we stand under the anathema of a holy God who is angered by unbelief. Faith is honestly looking at the Scripture, recognizing that God has said it, and saying with all the heart, “God, I believe it.”
