Les Feldick Bible Study

According to Galatians 3:7, who are the children of Abraham?

Galatians 3:7 states that they who are of faith are the children of Abraham. This is not about becoming a Jew or physical lineage, but a spiritual connection to Abraham through the faith way. So all who believe are counted as his children.

Les teaches from Galatians 3:6-7 that Abraham believed God and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Then verse 7 says, 'Know ye therefore that they who are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.' Les explains that those who are of the faith way—as over against some other way—are the children of Abraham. He clarifies that this does not mean we become Jews, but that we have a spiritual connection to Abraham like no other character in history other than the Lord Jesus Himself. Verse 8 adds that the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen by faith, preached the Gospel beforehand.

Galatians 3:7

Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.

More Questions

What does it mean to be children of Abraham in Galatians 3:7?

Galatians 3:7 does not mean Gentiles become Jews; it means that those who take the faith way have entered in by faith plus nothing, like Abraham did, and are therefore spiritually connected to Abraham.

Do we have to become Jews to be children of Abraham?

Being children of Abraham does not mean that we must become Jews; that conclusion is wrong.
