Who are the children of Abraham according to Paul?
Paul teaches that those who are children of faith are also the children of Abraham. Gentiles who enter salvation by faith alone, apart from law, sacrifice, or circumcision, are included. This does not make them Jews; Abraham was saved by faith plus nothing, and believers share that same faith connection.
Les explains that Paul returns to Abraham in Romans 4:1 and alludes to him more than any other Old Testament character. In Galatians, Paul says that we who are children of faith are also then the children of Abraham. Les clarifies this does not mean a Christian becomes a Jew; a Gentile remains a Gentile. Abraham was saved by faith plus nothing—without sacrifice, circumcision, or law—so believers enter the same way, by faith alone.
What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?
