Les Feldick Bible Study

What must God do before we can believe what He says?

God must first speak or reveal His Word. Biblical faith is taking God at His Word, so a person cannot believe what God has never said. He has to say it and reveal it; faith rests only on what God has actually made known.

Les explains that biblical faith is taking God at His Word. Therefore, before anyone can believe what God says, God must first say it and reveal it. A person cannot place faith in something God has never said. This principle explains why Peter could not go beyond what God had revealed; he was confined to what God had actually made known. Les uses this to show that Peter was in perfect accord with God, since God had not yet said that Israel was no longer under law but now under grace. Revelation must precede faith.
