How do Christians enter salvation?
Christians enter salvation by faith alone, not by law, sacrifice, circumcision, or any other works. Abraham was saved by faith plus nothing, simply doing what God said, and Scripture teaches that believers likewise enter in by faith alone, apart from such requirements.
Les teaches that Abraham is the key Old Testament example Paul uses, because Abraham was saved by faith plus nothing. Abraham did not sacrifice, practice circumcision, or have law; he simply did what God said to do. Les explains that this is the connection for us: just as Abraham was saved without benefit of law, sacrifice, circumcision, or any of those things, so we too enter in by faith alone. Being children of faith does not make Gentiles Jews; a Gentile remains a Gentile, and salvation does not make a Jew out of anyone.
What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?
