When and how did God pay the price to get mankind back after the fall?

After mankind fell in Adam, God paid the price to get mankind back in due time. He accomplished this redemption when He went to the cross. The payment was necessary so God’s grace could be appropriated, and the boat illustration pictures being twice over mine: made and bought back.

Les explains redemption with a boy’s boat: the boy made it, lost it, found it in a pawn shop, worked to accumulate enough money, and bought it back. As he carried it home he said, “little boat you’re twice over mine. I made you and now I’ve bought you back.” Les then applies this to mankind: God had us in Adam until he fell, and then God paid the price. The only way He could get it back was to pay the price in due time, and He did that when He went to the cross. That is redemption. Until we recognize that the only way God’s grace can be appropriated is that the price had to be paid for our redemption, we miss it. He’s paying the price.
