Les Feldick Bible Study

What does Les teach about how the Old Testament relates to the New Testament?

The Old Testament and New Testament are equally fitted and dovetail together; everything in the Old aligns with the New. Yet the Old Testament operated under the economy of law for national Israel, including temple worship, priesthood, and sacrifices. Now that God has turned to the Gentiles, that economy has slipped off the scene, bringing something totally different.

Les teaches that the Old Testament is just as well fitted as the New, and it all dovetails together, with everything in the Old dovetailing with the New. He emphasizes Pauline teaching, suggesting 90% of study time and Bible reading should be in Paul’s epistles, but he never indicates that the rest of Scripture should be forgotten. The Old Testament was predominantly under the economy of law to the nation of Israel, who were under the law with temple worship, priesthood, and sacrifices. But now that God has turned to the Gentile, that economy had to slip off the scene, and something totally different exists. He asks people not to take his word but to search the Scriptures, noting that the same language found in Romans and Paul’s other epistles is not found in the Gospels or Old Testament, because it is part of the revelation Paul speaks of—the mystery, the secrets held in the mind of God now being revealed.
