How many parts did God create Adam with?

God created Adam as a trichotomous being, meaning he was made with three parts, not a trinity but a three-part nature. Those parts are body, soul, and spirit, as laid out in Thessalonians. The body is the outer tent, while soul and spirit are the eternal, invisible aspects made in God's image.

Les teaches that when God created Adam, He made him a trichotomous being—a three-part being, not a trinity—as Thessalonians lays out: body, soul, and spirit. The body is the outer tent, the covering for the five senses, temporary like a tent. Inside that temporary tent are the eternal things, and it is there that humanity is made in God's image, not in the body. God never had a body with five senses to pattern us after, but He did have an inner personality comprised of mind, will, and emotions. Les notes there are differences of opinion on this.
