When does the Holy Spirit baptize a person into the body of Christ?

The Holy Spirit baptizes a person into the body of Christ when that person believes the Gospel. This occurs at the same time as all attendant aspects of salvation—forgiveness, redemption, justification, reconciliation, glorification—so no unsaved person is ever baptized into that body.

Les explains that the Bride of Christ is the consortium of all believers of the Church Age who have been placed into the body by the Holy Spirit. He emphasizes that no unsaved person is ever baptized by the Holy Spirit into the body of Christ. This baptism guarantees eternal destiny, and it will not happen until a person has believed the Gospel, with all attendant aspects of salvation done at the same time. Les notes that church rolls may include unsaved people because we cannot look on the heart—only God can—but into the body of Christ there are no unbelievers. He asks how anyone can doubt if they have been forgiven, redeemed, justified, translated, reconciled, and glorified, and says we take these by faith, claim them, and rest on them despite the devil's opposition.
