Does the body of Christ contain unsaved people?

No, the body of Christ does not contain unsaved people. No unsaved person is ever baptized by the Holy Spirit into the body of Christ. While local church membership rolls may include unsaved individuals, the true body of Christ consists only of believers placed into it by the Holy Spirit.

Les explains that the Bride of Christ is the consortium of all believers of the Church Age who have been placed into the body by the Holy Spirit. He notes that many church rolls may contain unsaved people—perhaps 50% or more—because churches cannot screen hearts; only God can look into the heart. But into the body of Christ there are no unbelievers. No unsaved person is ever baptized by the Holy Spirit into the body of Christ. That Holy Spirit baptism guarantees eternal destiny and occurs when a person believes the Gospel, along with all attendant aspects of salvation. Les adds that these truths are taken by faith: God has said it, we believe it, and we rest on it, claiming it even when the devil tries to cast doubt.
