What kind of citizen does a true believer become?
A true believer becomes a good citizen who enhances society, does not give the police department fits, and is a good parent, grandparent, child, and teenager. Though not perfect, such a person lives in a way that improves the community around them.
Les explains that when we are a practicing believer, we will be a good citizen. A true child of God will not give the police department fits. He will be a good parent, a good grandparent, a good child, and a good teenager. Les clarifies that this does not mean believers are perfect—anything but. Nevertheless, they will still be the kind of person who enhances society. If you could have a community of 100% born-again believers, you would have a pretty decent place to live, though not perfect, just as no local church is perfect. Les notes that God's power unto salvation has imparted all these things on our behalf, making us different, but that does not give us the right to walk around as if we are perfect or better than everybody. It is an imputed thing that God has done on our behalf.
