What is a new believer in the Christian life?

A new believer in the Christian life is a spiritual infant—a babe in Christ—who needs tender loving care, nourishment, and protection. God does not expect them to remain immature but to grow in grace, knowledge, and wisdom over time.

Les teaches that a new believer is a babe in Christ, an infant needing tender, loving care, nourishment, and protection. He explains that God does not expect a new believer to stay that way but expects them to begin to grow in grace, in knowledge, and in wisdom, drawing a perfect analogy between physical and spiritual life. Les also describes that when a person realizes they are in the cesspool of sin and the old slave market, with no hope of getting out unless the power of God pulls them out of deadness in sin and gives new life, sets their feet on a rock, forgives, sanctifies, and glorifies them, that is what believing does. This makes them a totally different person in outlook and desires, not by working, but it comes. He tells people they will not be a mature Christian overnight; it takes time. Salvation is the power of God unto salvation, all-inclusive, a way into glory and salvation from eternal doom, but more than that, it is a lifestyle. The immediately visible fundamental aspect is that a true born-again child of God will be a good citizen.
