Les Feldick Bible Study

How much effort is needed to understand the Bible?

Understanding the Bible requires effort, comparable to working at mathematics, but it is not reserved for the highly educated or intellectual. Scripture is meant for everyone in every status of society, and can be brought to the level of young children while still containing deep truths.

Les explains that understanding Scripture requires effort, much like working at mathematics. He admits he was not a mathematical genius and had to work hard in algebra and advanced courses. Yet he stresses that the Bible is not meant only for the highly educated or intellectual; it is for everyone in every status of society. The Reformers wanted the Word of God in the hands of every plow boy in England. Les tries to bring it to the level of young children while still getting deep enough that people say, 'This is so deep, I've never realized it before.' He also notes that some verses were an enigma to him until suddenly he realized what Jesus was referring to, showing that understanding can come after persistent study.
