Les Feldick Bible Study

What kind of people does God use to bring others to the knowledge of salvation?

God uses common, ordinary people as human instruments to bring others to the knowledge of salvation. He does not send angels or super-educated persons for this task; instead, He places His Word, with the Holy Spirit's leading, into the hands of those willing to handle it. Philip serves as the example.

Les explains that God did not leave His Word under the control of angels or highly educated seminarians. Instead, God has placed His Word, with the leading of the Holy Spirit, into the hands of every person who wants to handle it. For those who will be made aware of the plan of salvation, God does not send an angel or some super, super educated person, but He uses common, ordinary people. Les notes that he has been aware of only one or two people who claimed to come to a knowledge of the plan of salvation by themselves through simply reading the Bible, such as a man who became snowbound at about nineteen in northern Canada with nothing to read except the Bible and came to a knowledge of salvation. Otherwise, it always takes a human instrument to lead someone to a knowledge of salvation, and Philip is that human instrument here.

Acts 8:30

And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?
