How does God bring people to a knowledge of salvation?
God brings people to a knowledge of salvation not by sending angels or elite scholars, but by placing His Word, with the Holy Spirit’s leading, into ordinary believers’ hands and using common, ordinary people as human instruments. In Scripture, Philip served as such an instrument.
Les explains that God did not leave His Word under the control of angels or highly educated seminarians; He placed it, with the Holy Spirit’s leading, into the hands of every person who wants to handle it. For those who will be made aware of the plan of salvation, God does not send an angel or some super-educated person, but uses common, ordinary people. Les notes only one or two cases of people coming to the knowledge of salvation by simply reading the Bible alone, such as a man snowbound at about nineteen in northern Canada with only the Bible to read. Otherwise, it takes a human instrument, as with Philip, who was directed to the Ethiopian official and became the human instrument.
