How do I fight doubts after I have already called on Jesus for salvation?
When doubts arise, return to Scripture, especially Romans 10, and verbally affirm God's promise aloud: 'But God, You promised it.' If uncertainty persists, kneel and pray, 'Lord, if I'm not truly saved, save me right now.' Then rest in His response and make your calling and election sure.
Les teaches that after salvation Satan comes back to cast doubt and make a person ask, 'Did anything really happen?' The remedy is to open the Bible to Romans 10 and verbally say out loud, 'But God, You promised it.' That is faith: God promised, and the person did what He said by calling upon Him and believing the Gospel, now wanting assurance that what God said is true. Les also tells people who have doubts not to go through life doubting. He advises dropping to your knees some morning and saying, 'Lord, if I'm not truly saved, I want You to save me right now.' He recalls people who did this and found what a difference it made, including a lady who said she knew without any doubt she had called upon Him, He had saved her, and she no longer had doubts. Scripture says to make your calling and election sure, and Les presents this as one way of doing it.
