What was Abraham's journey from his homeland to the land of Canaan according to Acts 7?

Abraham came out of the land of the Chaldeans, dwelt in Haran, and then from there moved down into Canaan, wherein he dwelt. This was part of Stephen's review of Israel's history, showing how God was preparing the nation for the coming of their King, Messiah, and Redeemer.

Les explains that Stephen begins with Abraham and shows how he came out of the land of the Chaldeans in Acts 7:4, dwelt in Haran, and then moved down into Canaan, where he now dwelled. Les also points out that God later told Abraham his seed would sojourn in a strange land, be brought into bondage, and be treated evil for four hundred years, which speaks of Egypt. After that, God said they would come forth and serve Him in that place. Les notes this was all back in Genesis 15, and that Stephen was reviewing Israel's history to show how God was constantly unfolding and revealing, preparing the nation for the coming of their King, Messiah, and Redeemer.

Acts 7:4

Then came he out of the land of the Chaldaeans, and dwelt in Charran: and from thence, when his father was dead, he removed him into this land, wherein ye now dwell.
