What does Acts 7:4 say about Abraham's journey?
Acts 7:4 states that Abraham came out of the land of the Chaldeans, lived in Haran, and from there moved down into the land of Canaan, where he then dwelt. This summarizes Abraham's journey from Chaldea to Haran and finally to Canaan.
Les explains that Stephen’s sermon in Acts 7 begins with Abraham to review Israel’s history, showing how God was constantly unfolding and preparing the nation for the coming King, Messiah, and Redeemer. He notes in verse 4 that Abraham came out of the land of the Chaldeans, dwelt in Haran, and then moved down into Canaan, where he now dwelt. Les then connects this to verse 6, where God told Abraham his seed would sojourn in a strange land, be in bondage and treated evil four hundred years—speaking of Egypt—and that God would judge that nation, and afterward they would come forth and serve Him in this place. Les says this was all back in Genesis 15.
Then came he out of the land of the Chaldaeans, and dwelt in Charran: and from thence, when his father was dead, he removed him into this land, wherein ye now dwell.
