To whom were Abraham's promises repeated in Acts 13?
In Acts 13, as Paul recounts Israel's history, the promises given to Abraham were repeated to Isaac and then to Jacob. The twelve sons of Jacob subsequently carried that promise forward through their sojourn. This shows the covenant line continuing beyond Abraham.
Les explains that in Acts 13, Paul is at Antioch of Pisidia and, like Stephen in chapter 7, rehearses the whole history of the Jewish nation beginning with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The promises originally made to Abraham were repeated to Isaac and then repeated to Jacob. The twelve sons of Jacob carried that promise onward through their sojourn. Later, the prophets Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel all spoke of Christ's first coming, continuing the same prophetic line.
