What does Isaiah 52 say about Jesus' appearance on the cross?

Isaiah 52 indicates that as He hung on the cross, Jesus was more marred and appeared less human than anyone who had ever lived. His appearance was uniquely disfigured, showing the despicableness of His death as the innocent Lamb of God bearing the world's guilt.

Les explains that Peter's statement about slaying and hanging on a tree shows the despicableness of His death. Though He was not guilty, He became the innocent Lamb of God on whom all the guilt of a sinful world was laid. Les points to Isaiah 52, noting that of anyone who ever lived, Jesus was more marred and appeared less human as He hung on the cross than anyone who had ever lived.
