How disfigured was Jesus according to Isaiah?

According to Isaiah, Jesus was more disfigured than any human being in history. The context describes His horrible disfiguration on the cross: blood streaming, the 39 lashes, and the load of sin laid upon Him. That was the last picture Mary had of Him before His resurrected appearance.

Les explains that Mary Magdalene did not recognize Jesus on resurrection morning partly because it was pre-dawn darkness and partly because she remembered the horrible disfiguration He experienced on the cross. He had been whipped with the 39 lashes, blood had been streaming down, and the load of sin had been laid upon Him. Isaiah says He was more disfigured than any human being in history. Les notes that Jesus had been healed of all that abuse and now looked more or less normal, though He still had the nail prints. Mary could not put it all together, but it was the same Christ who was crucified and buried, now in a resurrected body.
