What did God promise beginning with Eve?

Beginning with Eve, God promised that through the woman of the human race the Messiah would come. This promised seed of the woman is Christ, who would bruise the serpent’s head at the cross, though the serpent would bruise His heel, causing the suffering of the cross.

Les explains that this is the first parcel of that promise and the first promise concerning Christ in the flesh. In that verse, God tells the serpent that He will put enmity between the serpent and the woman, and between the serpent’s seed and her seed. The seed of the woman is Christ. At the cross, Christ bruised and defeated Satan’s head, while Satan caused the suffering of the cross and bruised the Redeemer’s heel. So, beginning with Eve, God promised that through the woman of the human race the Messiah would come.

Genesis 3:15

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
