Who is the seed of Abraham and the seed of the woman in Genesis 3:15?
The seed of the woman in Genesis 3:15 and the seed of Abraham are identified as the Christ. Scripture ties Abraham’s seed to Genesis 3:15, showing that the promised redeemer would come through Israel as part of God’s plan of redemption for the whole human race.
Les explains that in Acts 3 Peter tells Israel they are the children of the prophets and of the covenant God made with their fathers, saying unto Abraham, “and in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.” In the seed of Abraham, Les says, we can go all the way back to Genesis 3:15, the seed of the woman. The seed of the woman and the seed of Abraham are both the Christ. This was all tied back as part of God’s plan of redemption for the whole human race, but it was going to be through the nation of Israel. Peter pleads with the covenant people to believe and accept Him as King and Messiah, and God would yet send Him. Then verse 26 says, “Unto you first,” and God, having raised up His Son Jesus, would send Him to bless them in turning away. Les points out that every Jew had to believe and be converted and understand that Jesus was the Christ. They could have had the Tribulation, the King, and the Kingdom just that quick, and then could have evangelized the whole Gentile world as the Old Testament prophesied.
And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.
