Why is understanding the Abrahamic Covenant essential for understanding Scripture?

Understanding the Abrahamic Covenant is essential because God's promises to Abraham form the necessary backdrop for the whole Bible, including the New Testament. Without it, one cannot rightly understand Scripture. It also explains God's calling of Abraham out of idolatry and the covenant line that follows.

Les teaches that unless you understand the Abrahamic Covenant, you will never understand the Bible or even the New Testament. The context shows God promising this covenant to Abraham around 2000 B.C., after Abraham comes from the line of Shem, following the scattering at the Tower of Babel. Abraham was called out of idolatry, and his family and the whole human race were steeped in it. Les maintains this covenant is foundational for understanding all Scripture.
